River Haven is now attracting people from every country around the world. Recently we welcomed Michael and Irene Matthews from Croydon, London. They came all the way to Ngatimoti by London cab.
The London cabbie Sid Snott told us “They hailed me on Piccadilly and said take us to the best restaurant on the river. I think it was when we were driving through Singapore that I realised they meant Thames not Motueka.” Anyway, they made it to Ngatimoti safe and sound.
Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked but we gave them a complimentary sausage roll at the Cafe for making the 3 month, 62,000 km journey (Sid got a bit lost in Kuala Lumpur). Because he didn’t feel that the taxi would make it back to the UK we lent Michael and Irene a couple of our bicycles for their return trip. And what of Sid?
He donated the cab to our Motor Haven collection and has moved in with a lovely widow in Tapawera.
